Scrapping

I thought Allison and I could tackle the boxes of photos stacked in the garage before the heat damaged them. It really was a bit overwhelming.  I have way too many photos with  way more of the most recent ones in the computer somewhere.

I don't really scrapbook like most people I guess.  Nothin' fancy or expensive. I just mount pictures on a page with a little embellishment, kind of like old fashioned blogging I guess.
It was fun and will be worth it to have preserved the photos.  I am about ready to keep only 10  photographs per child though.

Baby Shower Surprise!

I got the invitation in the mail and pretty soon I couldn't stand the idea of me not being there for Allison's Baby Shower. But is was in New York City! Was i gonna let a few measly miles stop me? evidently not cause soon i had tickets for myself, my Mom, and Rachel to fly to NYC and make a surprise showing at the shower. I called and got Ian's sister Eliza Dawson, one of my new favorite people, on board too. Then we made rental car and Hotel reservations and a surprise was in the making.

Allison did not know Eliza had a game set up to ask questions about Allison for points and prizes. Eliza then somehow "misplaced" her answer key, and made a pretense of calling Allison's Mom Vickie in Arizona for help with the answers. She asked me the first question over the phone and in I walked, saying the answer in person instead. Allison stood up, dropped the stuff in her hands and squealed. Then, right on my heels, came Rachel and Mom and she really lost it.
Of course these pictures were taken by me long after the initial surprise. I am hoping to get more photos from other sources to show the surprise.
The shower was great with good people, good refreshments(a proper english tea) with cocoa, cucumber sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, and cute decorations in the nursery colors.--Got to have the Yankee baby clothes. This cute blond next to Alli is Nicki Kelly. She is married to Ian's brother and lives in Manhatton. She was in on it and helped throw the Shower. Her Scones were Fantastic. Alli's friend, Bianca, held the Shower at her place which is just across the way in the same building from Al's Apartment. They almost always give the pregnant Bishops wife (Alli) a ride to church too.One of my favorite parts was after dropping Mom and Rae off at the curb (it was raining) I parked the car and was hurrying into the building where the shower was (the same building in which Alli and Ian live). I heard a loud voice from an open upstairs window yell, "No Way, NO WAY". Yup, Ian had seen me from the window and was surprised too.

--If you build it He will come.

Wonderful Life Scenes

I really love Ian Kelly's film work. In case you all have forgotten he is attending Columbia University. I know/hope it is okay to share his work here.

(I have a small group of readers really.)

He would say it is in a rough state and I would say no "kicking of rocks" is necessary (as in-- line up the rocks on the ground, kick 'em with your foot and say, "Ah, shucks, it weren't nothin,").

Fun huh?!

Also--- I can't help but include this comparison--what a difference a couple of months can make.

Pregnancy, Way Back When? 1985

Could anyone make"heads or tails "of these back then?
We nodded our heads and pretended we could. Well I just had to find some photos of "us" /me when I was pregnant with Allison. (--through my tears, for some reason i am feeling very....something.)

I carried my brown paper bag and soda crackers with me everywhere.

Here I am in New York City. Huh! what about that? This is before the food poisoning knocked me for a loop.

.....

Christmas
I remember sympathizing with Mary in a small way.
Wonderful!
and as Keith used to say, "Oh she is great, and getting greater"!

My baby's Birthday

Happy Birthday Allison

Bonding over water-guns

Does that title make sense?

The pictures will help. So we had two darling twin girls who turned 12 the first day of girls camp this year. They are darling, yes, and SHY. I, however, witnessed a rare and wonderful miracle occur last week...that's right, bonding over water-guns. These girls opened up, came out of their shells, overcame their shyness, whatever you want to call it, as they led the pack in some really fun water fights:) It was great and I'm so happy we snagged a few photos. I love these girls. All YW leaders say that-- because it's TRUE I can't help it. What fun. And the twins and the other yw are all buds now. It's a great thing. I'm so glad I got to go this year. (I just got released and put into Primary full time.) What a way to go out in style!

Filling up at the pump. And the ensuing battle. Check out the mid-air water shot.
Check out that FACE! Wow that is awesome. I had never even seen this photo until I uploaded my pics just now. I call that a game face, people. Sweet.

I recommend this to all my Arizona-land family. You can resort to cups and buckets if you need to. Super-soakers would be ideal. Game on!

NY in the rain

Did anyone know that it's been raining all summer so far here in NY? Now you know! (say this like on Bill Nye the Science Guy. Points if you can do this, lemme know if you can:) ) Anyway, during part of this rainy summer my old friend Barb came to visit, I'm sure y'all know her, you may not know her daughter London (I didn't until this trip). Well we toured NYC in the RAIN and I thought it would make for a cute post. This is Barb and London in all the RAIN. And we took the subways in this rain. and walked 40 blocks. No I'm not joking. Part of the trip was to walk down 5th ave and window shop. And so we did. Woo hoo!It did slow up for the Statue of Liberty though. Well, the Staten Island Ferry, that is. The best way to see the Lady if you ask me. Free too.
Here we are on the windy ferry. The guy taking the picture must not have noticed the small child in Barb's arms, or decided we didn't want to capture her in the memory, so we only have her forehead. Ha ha that still makes me laugh a little:)
Yay for friends! We also saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway (amazing voices. amazing. and yes, the chandelier drop is still the best part. I remembert that from when I was LITTLE. how little was I Mom, you remember?) and ate Grimaldi's pizza under the Brooklyn Bridge. Still my favorite no matter what other places crop up claiming to be better. I love NY:) Anyone up for some rain?

Harry Potter Rocks

Proof that I did not mind in the least manning the craft table three days in a row at girls camp. Do you like em? Oh and yes, the title of this post reads two ways, take your pick. (get it?) By the way the movie came out today. Going tomorrow. Had to finish re-re-reading the book first.

Sending my LOVE to YOU!!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented,fabulous?-- Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

Nurse Kelly!

Keith is a rock through it all.
(ask me about the "all" sometime when you have a few hours)

Celebrate Allison!

Where to start?

Allison Cutler Kelly, graduated from Lehman College in The Bronx, New York City,
Magna Cum Laude
May 2009.
Allison is now an RN.

Her best bud...

We attended a beautiful pinning ceremony where they recited The Nightingale Pledge dressed in nurses white, complete with "candles" .

-- She was a class officer.
--She was inducted into the Nursing Honor Society.
--She received a special monetary award ......

Ian has supported her and helped to make this all happen, all while working, studying, writing, and Bishoping. Hurray for Eno!

Hurray for the Kelly's!

Ian

-- an old (and getting older) Mother's Day present to me as well.

Ian Kelly

Our beloved Cradle robber... did it have to be New York City!?

Are you kiddin' me? Of course.

......................

Yankee fan, city boy-- yet seems to fit right in with our family somehow.
Yup.

Uh, all too well?
Maybe that should have worried us.
Nope.

Now we can't figure out how we ever managed without him around.

You have to click on this one and see him close up. really

WE LOVE YOU IAN
